Edgemont is hosting a Star Wars themed Family STEM Night on the evening of May 4. The event, running from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, features STEM activities, a chemistry show, and time in the space lab. Attendees are invited to dress as their favorite Star Wars characters to celebrate May the 4th.
The school is also observing National Teacher Appreciation Week. Following a teacher appreciation event held by the PTA in March, staff members are encouraged to receive notes from students or thank you messages for the school year.
Academic testing is scheduled throughout the week, including 6th grade Acadience Reading testing on Monday, 5th grade Acadience reading testing on Tuesday, and 4th grade Acadience reading testing on Wednesday. Additionally, NWEA Reading testing for grades K-6 is occurring all week.
Several performances and community events are scheduled for the week. On Tuesday, the 5th grade Hope of America performance will take place at the Marriott Center at 7:30 pm. On Thursday, the PTA is hosting an Edgemont Family Skate Night at Classic Skate starting at 4:30 pm.
A retirement open house for Mrs. Cottle, Mr. Pierce, and Mrs. Quilter will be held in the gym on Friday at 1:30 pm.
Looking ahead to future school events, a Band, Orchestra, and Choir concert is set for May 11, followed by talent show tryouts beginning May 13. Other upcoming dates include the Edgemont PTA 5K on May 19 and the last day of school on May 22.
