As KSL Sports first reported on June 27, 2026, the Cougars successfully fended off interest from Ohio State, which had conducted the most recent official visit with Wong the weekend prior to his announcement.
Culture and Spiritual Growth
Wong identified three primary reasons for selecting Provo. He specifically highlighted the relationship with passing game coordinator Fesi Sitake and the overall culture of the program.
"The relationship I had with coach Fesi and the culture fit of the program was a big deal for me," Wong said, noting that while college football is a massive business, BYU operates with a "family atmosphere." He also emphasized the importance of his faith, stating that the opportunity to grow stronger in the gospel was vital. Having been baptized at age 13, Wong expressed a desire to be in an environment where he could continue building his testimony.

"Every time I have visited, the players were great with me and we had fun together," Wong said. Wong enters the BYU program with an impressive statistical pedigree from his time at Norco High School. During his junior season, he recorded 84 receptions for 1,469 yards and 20 touchdowns, setting a Norco season record. His single-game highlights include a performance against Centennial where he caught 14 passes, and a 280-yard, five-touchdown outing against Murrieta Valley High School.
Over his last two seasons in California, Wong has amassed a total of 2,047 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns. He is ranked as the 244th overall prospect in the 2027 cycle by 247Sports.
