Stage 1 fire restriction orders were issued for the unincorporated areas of Beaver County due to extremely dry vegetation and forecasted weather conditions in Southwest Utah, according to a report published August 26, 2026.
The State Forester determined that these measures are necessary to prevent forest or rangeland fires. The restrictions, which became effective at 12:01 a.m. on June 5, 2026, apply to unincorporated areas and do not affect private lands within incorporated towns or city limits.
Prohibited acts include open fires, except in approved fire rings or grills at developed campgrounds or day-use areas on public lands with pressurized running water, or in permanently constructed fire pits at private residences with pressurized water systems. Smoking is prohibited except within an enclosed vehicle, trailer, building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area that is paved or free from dry vegetation.
Other prohibited activities include the use of fireworks, tracer ammunition, or other pyrotechnic devices, as well as cutting, welding, or grinding metal in areas of dry vegetation. Additionally, operating a motorcycle, chainsaw, ATV, or other small internal combustion engine without an approved and working spark arrestor is prohibited.
Violations of these restrictions are punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. County law enforcement will enforce these regulations. Exemptions include on-duty firefighters performing official duties and persons with a permit or waiver issued by the Division for a specific act at a specific location.
