The Utah Digital Newspapers (UDN) platform serves as a keyword-searchable statewide repository for digitized newspapers. The collection currently contains more than 6.3 million digitized pages sourced from 374 different newspapers. These publications represent all 29 counties in Utah and the collection expands on a monthly basis.
Users accessing the UDN can locate specific historical information, including records of births, deaths, marriages, and obituaries. In addition to these vital records, the platform provides access to various news articles, newswires, and newspapers. These materials serve as primary sources and first-hand accounts of historical events and topics relevant to Utah history.
Regional Digital Network
The Mountain West Digital Library (MWDL) functions as a central search portal for digital resources spanning the Mountain West region. This network includes collections from universities, colleges, public libraries, museums, historical societies, and government agencies. The scope of the library extends across several states, including Utah, Nevada, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Wyoming, as well as other parts of the Western United States.
According to the University of Utah, the MWDL offers access to more than 1,000,000 resources. These collections cover a wide range of academic and research disciplines, such as political science, environmental studies, medicine, and social sciences. The library is designed to support research through a diverse array of media types and scholarly materials.
Diverse Research Materials
The variety of media available through the MWDL facilitates deep research into regional history and geography. The digital collections include photographs, maps, artworks, and videos and animations.
