Construction is set to begin in Vernal on a new multi-use trail designed to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists. According to the Utah Department of Transportation, work on the trail was scheduled to start Monday, July 20, 2026.
The project aims to provide safer and easier access for students and residents as it will connect two colleges, three schools, and various community destinations.
In separate transportation updates, UDOT advised motorists of recent lane closures affecting Interstate 80 and Interstate 15. Work involving paving, bridge inspections, and pavement testing was scheduled to affect areas in Tooele County, Parleys Canyon, and Payson.
Additionally, a temporary closure was implemented for the ramp from eastbound I-80 to southbound I-215 at Exit 117. The closure began Monday, July 13, 2026, at 8 p.m. and was expected to last until Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 5 a.m., resulting in no direct access between the two interstates for up to 33 hours.
Looking ahead, UDOT announced that BridgeFest will take place in Midvale, Utah, on September 4, 2026.
