Kodiak Interiors Group has acquired Mountain Land Design (MLD), a family-owned business specializing in appliances, plumbing, and hardware, in a deal announced on August 16. The acquisition expands the presence of Kodiak Interiors Group in the Mountain West and provides MLD with increased operational resources and strategic support.
Mountain Land Design was founded in 1987 as a boutique showroom in Park City, Utah. The company has since grown to serve various locations, including Salt Lake City, Cedar City, Provo, Boise, Jackson, and Ketchum. According to MLD president Dan Devenport, the partnership allows the company to grow into new markets while maintaining its existing relationships with customers, employees, and communities.
Kodiak Interiors Group CEO Jeff Smith stated that MLD is a natural fit for the company's culture. Smith noted that the acquisition expands the KIG portfolio with new product offerings and provides access to long-term growth markets that complement current operations in the Pacific Northwest and Colorado.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen independent appliance and interiors businesses while preserving local brands and leadership. MLD customers, contractors, and manufacturer partners should not see significant changes in day-to-day operations. With this addition, Kodiak Interiors Group now includes six operating companies serving nine states.
