A former freelance cellist has transitioned into a career as a middle school math teacher in the Jordan School District, according to a report published September 3.
Karen Smith, a teacher at South Hills Middle School, previously performed on stages alongside iconic artists including Stevie Wonder, Yo-Yo Ma, and John Williams.
In episode 365 of the Supercast, Smith discussed her journey from performing music to becoming a dedicated educator. She explored how her transition from the stage to the classroom helped her find a passion for teaching math.
Smith was scheduled to play with the Sinfonia of Salt Lake on Sept. 14, according to the report.
