The Lehi girls volleyball team secured four victories in late August, according to a August 31 report, bringing their overall record to 5-1. Three of these recent wins occurred during road matches as the Pioneers prepare for the Region 3 schedule.
On Aug. 18, Lehi defeated Herriman 3-2 in a road match. After losing the first two sets, the Pioneers won three consecutive games to secure the 22-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-13, 15-11 victory. Laken Bell recorded 14 kills, six aces, and 12 serve-receives. Aliya Shewell contributed 13 kills and 10 digs, while Alea Tauai added six kills, three blocks, 12 digs, and 18 serve-receives. Aftyn Hurst recorded seven aces, 17 digs, and 16 serve-receives, while Pais Brems recorded 33 assists and three block-assists. Lucy Lowe had four blocks and four kills, and Isabel Garcia recorded 13 serve-receives.
Lehi also won a home match against Copper Hills on Aug. 20 with a score of 3-1. Laken Bell recorded 24 kills, six aces, two solo blocks, 18 digs, and 21 serve-receives. Aliya Shewell tallied 21 kills, 13 digs, and 22 serve-receives. Pais Brems recorded 42 assists, 16 digs, two solo blocks, and two block-assists. Aftyn Hurst had 12 digs, four assists, and 15 serve-receives, Isabel Garcia had 17 digs and 10 serve-receives, Emma Larson had three kills and 17 digs, and Lucy Lowe recorded four combined blocks.
The Pioneers earned two road sweeps to conclude the period. On Aug. 25, Lehi swept Cottonwood 3-0 with scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-18. Aliya Shewell recorded 13 kills and five aces, while Laken Bell had 12 kills and five aces. Isabel Garcia had seven digs and 14 serve-receives, Pais Brems had 25 assists, and Kelcee Rasmussen recorded three block-assists in her varsity debut.
On Aug. 27, Lehi swept Salem Hills 3-0 on the road with scores of 25-18, 28-26, and 25-20. Aliya Shewell recorded 16 kills, 17 digs, and 13 serve-receives. Laken Bell had 10 kills and 18 serve-receives. Isabel Garcia tallied 15 digs and 19 serve-receives, Pais Brems recorded 12 digs and 29 assists, and Emma Larson added three combined blocks.
Coach Alise Bowles stated that the team has made progress in adjusting to the loss of two starting players to injury. She noted the team is focused on competing against quality teams in the region. The Pioneers were scheduled to play Davis on Sept. 3 and host Lone Peak on Sept. 8 to begin Region 3 play.
