Alpine City announced several community updates in a report published September 11, including upcoming educational meetings and seasonal permit availability.
A water education meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m. at Alpine City Hall. The event features guest speaker Ben Abbott, Ph.D., an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant and Wildlife Sciences at Brigham Young University and Executive Director of Grow the Flow. Dr. Abbott is scheduled to discuss how human impact affects the health of the Great Salt Lake. The meeting will also review Alpine's 2026 conservation progress regarding water use, leak reduction, and code enforcement, while discussing potential 2027 considerations such as watering schedules, enforcement, and water rates.
The city also announced that open burn permit applications will be available from Sept. 15 through Oct. 31. For questions regarding these permits, residents can contact LP Fire at 801-763-5365.
A free shredding and eWaste recycling event was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19 at City Hall from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Acceptable electronic recyclables include cell phones, computers, laptops, keyboards, tablets, MP3 players, iPODS, hard drives, printers, stereos, fax machines, CD and DVD players, and flat screen TVs. The event will not accept batteries, light bulbs, or CRT TVs. Residents may bring paper, provided it is removed from 3-ring binders and metal binder clips are removed, though staples and paper clips are permitted. There is a limit of three boxes per household.
The EyeOnWater app is available for residents to monitor for leaks, provided notifications are enabled after installation.
