Southern Utah University's Non-Traditional Student Services released a newsletter in mid-January to provide resources and encouragement to students navigating the winter semester. The publication serves as a check-in for students balancing academic responsibilities with work and family commitments.
The newsletter outlines several upcoming academic dates, including the Martin Luther King Day holiday on Monday, January 19, when campus is scheduled to be closed. Other noted dates include the automatic drop from classes via commenced attendance on Thursday, January 22, and the final day to drop courses without a W on Wednesday, January 28. Additionally, senior registration for the Summer 2026 semester was scheduled to begin on Thursday, February 5.
Various campus resources were highlighted to assist non-traditional students, including the IT Help Desk for technological support and the Career Center for assistance with resumes and job searches. The SUU HOPE Pantry provides food and toiletry items to students, while the Student Health Clinic offers free services for non-emergency health issues. Mental health support is available through Timely Care, which allows students nine free therapy sessions per school year.
The university also announced new severe weather notifications for the winter season to guide decisions regarding campus responses to winter storms. Students can opt in to receive updates via text, email, or social media channels regarding weather-related closures or schedule adjustments.
