Southern Utah University's Non-Traditional Student Services has released a newsletter for the January 2026 period, offering resources and academic updates for students. The publication aims to support students balancing school with work, family, and other responsibilities.
The newsletter outlines several important academic dates for the spring term. January 5 and 6 were scheduled for Thunder U for new students, and a Non-Trad Nacho Networking and Mocktail Mixer was scheduled for Tuesday, January 6. The first day of the spring term was scheduled for Wednesday, January 7. Other scheduled dates included the last day to add courses without a signature on Wednesday, January 14, and the last day to drop courses without a W on Wednesday, January 28. Additionally, campus was scheduled to be closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
Various student support services were identified to assist non-traditional students. These include the IT Help Desk for technological support, Trula for silent study sessions, and the Career Center for assistance with resumes and job searches. The Student Health Clinic provides free services for non-emergency health issues, while Four Points Health is available for issues beyond basic care. For mental health, students are allotted nine free therapy sessions through Timely Care, and the Community Counseling and Assessment Clinic offers services for $5 per session every Thursday.
The HOPE Pantry provides essential food and toiletry items to SUU students, while also offering educational opportunities regarding food budgeting and meal planning. The university also noted new severe weather notifications implemented to guide campus responses to winter storms through text, email, and social media channels.
The Non-Traditional Student Office provides various resources to assist students in navigating the semester. Students can contact the office for assistance and information regarding class registration, academic advising, textbooks, and financial aid.
