Provo High School is providing students with opportunities to gain real-world experience through an internship program that takes place directly on campus.
Students such as Nathaniel Landon and Parley Thornock have utilized the program to explore personal interests, build new skills, and contribute to the school community.
The internship offers a combination of independence and responsibility. Interns work on individual projects while assisting with classroom and shop tasks, such as organizing materials and helping teachers and classmates. This process helps students learn about leadership, dependability, and teamwork.
Nate and Parley have used the program's flexibility to start a small business together. Their venture involves the design and sale of handcrafted items, including skateboards, longboards, and pens.
The internship also serves as a way for students to complete their Manufacturing and Engineering pathway. Students who finish the program receive a special cord at graduation to recognize their hard work and growth.
Through collaboration with teachers and various projects, participants are building confidence and real-world skills.
