The Venture Course in the Humanities at Weber State is a free, interdisciplinary course designed for adults. Offered through a partnership between Utah Humanities and Weber State, the accredited evening program aims to help students develop critical thinking skills and new ways of thinking about the world.
The course is taught by university faculty and focuses on five specific subjects: history, philosophy, literature, creativity, and critical writing and thinking. Participants can earn up to nine college credits that count toward General Education Requirements.
In addition to tuition-free instruction, the program provides books and materials at no cost. Participants also receive support for meals and transportation. According to the program information, classes are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m.
Applications are being accepted for the Fall 2026 Venture cohort, with classes scheduled to begin September 8, 2026. Interested individuals can apply online or in person at the WSU Community Education Center located at 2955 Harrison Blvd., Suite 102, Ogden, Utah.
