The Cache County Sheriff’s Office sought public assistance following an incident in Logan Canyon involving unauthorized heavy machinery operation. During the early hours of a Wednesday, vandals caused extensive damage to property and natural resources.
Deputies responded to the Right Hand Fork area after reports surfaced regarding the unauthorized use of an excavator and a front loader. According to a press release from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, the front loader was used to push two portable traffic control lights down an embankment and into a river. These lights, which were equipped with specialized solar panels, are valued at $30,000.
Further into the canyon, an excavator was operated without authorization to knock down a significant number of trees.
