Girls at Independence High School have the opportunity to attend a backpacking overnighter at Buffalo Peak and Hope Campground in Provo. The activity is designed as an introductory experience where no previous backpacking experience is required.
The trip will begin after school on Friday, May 8, and conclude around lunchtime on May 9.
Participants will carry essential items such as sleeping pads, sleeping bags, food, and water in backpacking packs. Depending on the weather, students will sleep either in a tent or under the stars.
While the activity is introductory, students must be comfortable walking or hiking at least two miles. To support participants, the school will provide all specialized equipment, including the backpacking pack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and all food.
Students participating in this trip will earn 0.25 credit. Attendees are required to bring all items listed on the packing list. Parents interested in joining the trip are asked to notify the school.
