Folklore Bookshop Serves Midway Readers
Folklore Bookshop, located in Midway, Utah, was named the Heber Valley Chamber Business of the Month for November 2025. The independent general interest bookstore opened in October 2024 and has since become a community hub for readers and families. Co-owned by Alison Russell, Lindsey Leavitt Brown, and Audrey Lind, the shop was born from a shared passion for literature among the three local residents.
A Shared Vision for Literature
The three owners—Russell, Leavitt Brown, and Lind—developed the business based on neighborly connections. Alison Russell first met Lindsey Leavitt Brown as a neighbor in Midway, and they shared involvement in the local Swiss Miss program for their daughters. Audrey Lind was later introduced to the pair through their children's participation in local sports. The bookstore offers a wide variety of genres, including a children's section with picture books and middle-grade favorites, and a robust non-fiction section.
Haven Haus Co. Emphasizes Heritage
Haven Haus Co. was recognized as the April 2026 Business of the Month for its role in community impact and economic vitality. Owned by Diane Nelson, the boutique shop is located within the historic Springer Farm House in Midway. The business, which opened at its former Heber City location in the fall of 2023, relocated to its current space after outgrowing its original footprint.
Rooted in Local History
The name 'Haven' holds personal significance for Nelson, who discovered through family history research that her maternal grandparents lived in the Heber Valley in the early 1800s. Nelson noted that the valley served as a haven for families establishing roots, a legacy she seeks to honor through her business. Haven Haus Co. provides a curated experience with seasonal offerings, including home décor and children's clothing.
Switchback Sports Expands Reach
Switchback Sports was honored as the December 2025 Business of the Month. The outdoor retailer, known for high-quality gear and specialized staff, expanded its presence in the region by opening a new location in Heber City. Area Manager Bobby stated that the Heber Valley has long been a point of interest for the business due to its central location and proximity to mountain terrain.
Four-Season Outdoor Recreation
The Heber City location of Switchback Sports is designed to serve the four-season needs of the valley. During the winter, the shop operates as a full-service ski hub for downhill and Nordic skiing. In the summer, the focus shifts to bicycle maintenance, accessories, and pickleball gear. The shop provides both new and used equipment to make outdoor recreation more accessible to the community.
CAMS Supports Downtown Vitality
Driven by volunteers, CAMS has established several community events, including the Old Fashioned Christmas celebration and the annual Halloween Fest. In 2026, the organization introduced a Cinco de Mayo celebration to provide new, inclusive gathering spaces for residents and visitors.
The Community Alliance for Main Street (CAMS) was named the May 2026 Business of the Month. Operating since 2004, the volunteer-based organization focuses on the Heber City Main Street corridor and surrounding side streets. Its mission includes historical preservation, creating community spaces, supporting local businesses, and driving economic development.
