The Liberty Wells Community Council has successfully reached its fundraising goal to save the iconic Coachman’s sign. The preservation effort involves carefully removing the sign so it can be kept for future restoration and eventual relocation.
The removal of the sign was scheduled for a morning window between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. at the park strip located in front of First Utah Bank on 1300 South.
In other local news, Governor Spencer Cox will lift the statewide fireworks ban ahead of Pioneer Day. This change allows individual cities and towns to determine their own fireworks permits based on local wildfire conditions.
Additionally, the pond at Sugar House Park has been temporarily drained. Due to an ongoing drought that has halted water flow from Mountain Dell Reservoir, officials are draining the pond to protect waterfowl from stagnant water until better conditions arrive.
