A preliminary hearing in the Charlie Kirk case is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 6, 2026, and continue through Friday, July 10, 2026.
Proceedings are set to start at 9:00 a.m. MDT, though the session on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, will begin at 1:00 p.m. MDT.
The purpose of this preliminary hearing is limited to determining whether probable cause exists. Under the standard used in State v. Lopez, the prosecution must demonstrate evidence sufficient to support a reasonable belief that an offense was committed and that the defendant committed it.
If the prosecution provides enough evidence to satisfy this probable-cause standard, the defendant will be bound over for trial.
