The Out of the Darkness Salt Lake City Walk took place on Sept. 5, 2026, at Veterans Memorial Park in West Jordan. According to a statement from the Salt Lake City Walk Committee, the event served as a day of hope, remembrance, and connection to demonstrate that mental health matters and suicide can be prevented.
The event saw significant participation, with 1,928 walkers and 239 teams involved. Together, these participants raised a total of $164,238.35.
Donations from the walk support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, which is the largest private funder of suicide prevention research in the United States. These funds assist with research, advocacy, education, and programs in Utah and across the country.
Donations for the Salt Lake City Walk will be accepted through Dec. 31, 2026. The local chapter remains available for those interested in volunteer opportunities, additional programs, or post-walk events.
