Sunday morning, Utah County Sheriff's deputies were called to the area of 3100 West and 7300 South on a report that "a male walking on the road was struck by a black Ram pickup truck who did not stop," according to a police booking affidavit. The driver, Fulgencio, "stated he was coming back from a get-together at a friend's house and stated he may have been in an accident," the affidavit states.

A photographer watching thunderstorms move across Mount Timpanogos early Friday morning captured a lightning strike from the base of the mountain — unaware that a 19-year-old hiker had been critically injured near the summit. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said a group of hikers had reached the summit when a large thunderstorm moved in.
