Education, industry, government, and community leaders gathered for the Jordan School District Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summit to strengthen regional workforce development efforts, according to a September 17 report.
The event aimed to build a sustainable talent pipeline to support economic growth in the Salt Lake Valley.
During the summit, Michael Jeanfreau, an economist with the Utah Department of Workforce Services, gave a keynote talk regarding the economic outlook for Utah. Jeanfreau presented data concerning emerging labor-market trends, high-growth industries, and the specific skill sets required for the future workforce.
The summit highlighted strategies for local employers and education leaders to facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and profession-based learning.
The event was sponsored by Hunt Electric, Cyprus Credit Union, the Mountainwest Chamber, and the South Valley Chamber. The summit focused on fostering public-private partnerships to help retain top talent in the local economy.
