Tyce Alan Tanner, 22, has been bound over for trial on four felony charges following an alleged sexual assault at a St. George residence. Tanner waived his preliminary hearing and was bound over for trial on Aug. 20.
The charges include three first-degree felonies—rape, object rape, and forcible sodomy—and one second-degree felony charge of forcible sexual abuse. The case involves allegations reported to the St. George Police regarding an incident during a gathering at a home on June 22, 2024.
According to charging documents filed in 5th District Court, Tanner and the alleged victim were both 20 years old at the time and were known to each other. Investigators stated that the two were with a group of friends who were consuming alcohol at the residence. The woman reported that Tanner became sick after drinking and she was sexually assaulted while attempting to help him, despite repeatedly telling him to stop.
A sexual assault examination was completed after the incident was reported. While Tanner did not provide a statement to police, he agreed to provide a DNA sample. Testing by the Utah crime lab indicated that Tanner was a contributor to a DNA mixture recovered during the examination.
Tanner surrendered and was booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility on May 22, 2025. Following the initial filing of the case, he was initially ordered held without bail, though his bail was later modified to $20,000. Court records indicate that his father, Todd Tanner, posted the bail.
An arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 29 at 1:45 p.m. before Burns, where Tanner will be asked to enter a plea to the charges.
