The Millard County Sheriff’s Office began creating an employment roster for dispatcher positions, according to a September 9 notice. This roster is intended to fill current openings and may be utilized for future employment opportunities within the office.
Dispatchers are responsible for answering 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls, as well as dispatching law enforcement, fire, and EMS services in Millard County. Duties also include monitoring jail activities and assisting with jail security.
Starting wages for the position range from $25.38 per hour to $37.37 per hour, depending on verified experience. The Sheriff and County Commission will determine the final salary based on current policies. No credit is offered for experience totaling less than 12 months of service.
Minimum qualifications for applicants include being at least 18 years of age, holding a high school diploma or equivalent, and being a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident. Applicants must also possess a valid Utah driver license, pass a pre-employment drug screening, and pass a background check. Other requirements may include a truth verification examination or a psychological screening test.
Preference may be given to applicants who hold current Utah Dispatcher certifications. For those not currently certified, the county may pay for training, including wages, per-diem, and a county vehicle for travel. The application process remains open until the positions are filled, and applications received within the last six months will be considered.
