Provo Peaks Elementary has announced several school initiatives, including opportunities for parent involvement in the School Community Council and a partnership with the Utah Food Bank for a mobile school pantry program.
Parents interested in joining the School Community Council are asked to email ryanm@provo.edu with information regarding their interest by Friday, September 11th. The council meets approximately five to six times per year to discuss school projects and review the Land Trust plan, which involves managing approximately $107,000 in state funds for Provo Peaks.
In support of student health, the school nurse and trained volunteers were scheduled to conduct school-wide distance vision screenings on September 3rd, 2026. School officials noted that early detection of vision problems is critical for educational success and encouraged students who wear glasses or contacts to wear them during the screening.
The school is participating in the Utah Food Bank Mobile School Pantry Program for the 2026–2027 school year. Enrolled students and household members can pick up free groceries once a month at 665 E Center St, Provo, UT 84606. Distributions are scheduled to begin at 3:20 p.m. and continue until products run out. Scheduled dates include September 10, October 15, November 5, December 10, January 7, February 4, March 4, April 15, and May 6. The school noted that October 15 and April 15 are makeup dates due to holiday conflicts.
A new attendance incentive program has been introduced where classes can earn letters to spell ATTENDANCE MATTERS. If a class completes the word, they may receive incentives such as extra recess or playing kickball with Mr. McCarty. The school emphasized that strong attendance is a shared responsibility to support student achievement.
