Crimson Cliffs defeated Region 9 neighbor Desert Hills 2-0 in Washington on Aug. 25, 2026. Macey Woolley scored her 11th goal of the season and goalkeeper Kennedy Madsen recorded a clean sheet in the victory.
The Crimson Cliffs victory was fueled by an experienced senior class. Macey Woolley scored the first goal before halftime following an assist from Tess Morby. Junior forward Jayda Alofipo scored the second goal midway through the second half with an assist from Hadley Hinton.
Crimson coach Kat Esplin noted that the team's maturity and experience in high-level club soccer helped the Mustangs achieve a 2-0 start in Region 9 play. The team finished the previous season with a 14-5 record.
In other Region 9 action on Aug. 25, Dixie shut out Hurricane 3-0 to improve to a 2-0 start in the league. Reighley Barrow, Brinley Steer, and Addi Davis provided the scoring for the Flyers, with Brooklyn Roberts recording two assists.
Snow Canyon, the defending Region 9 and 4A state champion, began league play with a 6-0 win over Pine View. Lucy Lyon contributed two goals and an assist, while Blakely Larsen and Kate Dunkley each recorded a goal and an assist. Goalkeeper Lucy Bacon earned the shutout victory for the Warriors.
