Students across Bountiful Elementary began their first rotation through Art, Library, PE, and Computer Science during the week of August 24, 2026.
These specialist classes, referred to as Prep classes, involve specific learning goals, standards, and challenges for every student from Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.
The nature of these classes allows teachers to maintain a continuous relationship with students over multiple years. This continuity enables specialists to observe students as they transition from beginning readers to independent library users, or as they develop physical skills and teamwork in PE.
While some learning is visible through artwork or library books, the school notes that deeper learning often involves developing skills such as problem-solving, technology use, and persistence. These experiences are tied to the school's current theme, Make It Matter.
The school will introduce the specific teachers for these programs over the next several days. The specialists include Linsey Holley, Tara Berge, Liz Hawkins, and Jessie Edwards.
Each classroom provides a different environment, ranging from spaces for experimentation and creative expression to areas designed for physical movement or complex problem-solving.
