The Inn at Sundance Mountain Resort has introduced modern luxury amenities to the historic Utah mountain destination while maintaining its traditional community spirit. The resort features new infrastructure and a focus on preserving the natural landscape established by founder Robert Redford.
The resort has expanded its offerings with the opening of a new ski-in, ski-out inn, new chairlifts, terrain expansions, and an outdoor pool complex. The interior design of the inn, handled by Fettle Design, utilizes reclaimed timber flooring and rustic ceiling beams to evoke a sense of place without relying on Western clichés.
Guest accommodations range from king rooms to one-bedroom suites, including the 770-foot Ridgeline Suite. The rooms offer views of either Mt. Timpanogos or the local creek. A dedicated ski concierge manages equipment through a specialized Boot Room service to facilitate easy ski-in, ski-out access.
Dining options at the resort include The Living Room, Bearclaw Cabin, The Tree Room, the Library, Foundry Grill, and The Owl Bar. The resort also features an art studio where guests can observe glassblowers or participate in pottery and silversmithing classes.
Sundance has maintained a reputation as a local mountain, staying under-the-radar compared to nearby resorts like Deer Valley and Park City. The mountain was founded by Robert Redford, who purchased land in 1969 and operated under the principle to develop little and preserve a lot. Approximately 70 percent of the property's total acreage is now permanently protected.
Following the sale of the resort to a private equity firm in 2020, the mountain has focused on long-term financial sustainability through infrastructure investment. The resort continues to employ many local residents and longtime staff, including president and general manager Chad Linebaugh.
The resort is located approximately one hour from Salt Lake City airport and 30 minutes from Provo Airport. In addition to seasonal activities like skiing and snowshoeing, the area supports mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, and fly fishing.
