Marriott-Slaterville City has passed Ordinance 2026-10, which amends Section 10.05.030 to regulate various transportation devices on the public right-of-way. According to the ordinance, the updates aim to provide additional modes of transportation and implement regulations to promote public safety.
The ordinance defines several permitted transportation devices, including bicycles, electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, electric personal assistive mobility devices, and electric motorized wheelchairs. Other permitted devices include golf carts, low-speed vehicles, motorized mopeds or motor assisted scooters, and off-highway vehicles.
Specific regulations for certain devices were included in the amendment. Electric motorcycles are prohibited on any city road unless they are street compliant, and operators must be at least sixteen years old with a valid driver's license and proper insurance. Golf carts may only be operated on city roads, excluding Pioneer Road west of S.R. 126, by operators at least fourteen years old during daylight hours. Off-highway vehicle operators must possess a valid operator certificate.
The ordinance establishes general operational rules, such as requiring adequate lighting for operation after dark and stating that operators must adhere to manufacturer specifications. It also notes that sidewalks are reserved for pedestrians, electric or standard wheelchairs, or small children accompanied by a guardian.
Any device not specifically listed in the section is not permitted on the public right-of-way. Violations of this section are classified as infractions with a fine not exceeding $100.
The ordinance was passed and adopted by the City Council on August 20, 2026, and was presented to and approved by the Mayor on August 24, 2026. The measure took effect immediately upon mayoral approval and posting.
