Southern Utah University is offering an Adult Learner Grant to help eligible students afford online degree programs. Funded by the State of Utah, the grant supports students pursuing select, high-demand online programs to assist with career preparation and affordability.
The grant is available for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 terms, and eligible students may receive continued funding across multiple semesters. Application deadlines have been set for October 15th, 2026, at 11:59 PM MT for the Fall term, and February 23rd, 2027, at 11:59 PM MT for the Spring term.
To qualify, applicants must be Utah residents or qualify for resident status and be classified as an independent student via a FAFSA application while demonstrating financial need. Students must also be enrolled in an online undergraduate or graduate program in a field designed to meet industry needs and must register for a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester.
Grant funding is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and can cover up to the full cost of attendance. Priority for awards is given to applicants from rural areas of the state, those classified as low-income, or those pursuing degrees aligned to four or five-star jobs.
Eligible online undergraduate programs include Accounting, Communication, Elementary Education, Finance, History, Management, Marketing, Nursing, and Political Science.
Available online graduate programs include Accounting, Arts Administration, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Cybersecurity and Information Assurance, Education, Music Education, Music Technology, Public Administration, and RN to MSN.
