The Smithfield Planning Commission will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, to address several zoning and development items, according to a public notice published Sept. 10.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM at 96 South Main in Smithfield. The agenda includes a discussion and possible vote regarding a request from the Neighborhood Nonprofit Housing Corporation for an 18-month extension on the preliminary plan for Smithfield Pointe Phase 6.
Additionally, commissioners will consider a request from Rigo Chaparro to amend the Birch Creek Business Park Subdivision, Phase 2 Final Plat from two lots to six lots at approximately 475 West 600 South. This location is zoned GC (General Commercial).
Several ordinances are also scheduled for introduction and public hearing:
Ordinance 2026-15 involves rezoning a Cache County Parcel from A-10 to A-5 at approximately 1350 East 120 South. This request was submitted by Elk Ridge Subdivision, LLC.
Ordinance 2026-16 involves rezoning several Cache County parcels from A-10 and R-1-12 to R-1-12 at approximately 56 to 120 South on 1300 East. This request was also submitted by Elk Ridge Subdivision, LLC.
Ordinance 2026-14 seeks to amend the Smithfield City Municipal Code Title 17 by adding Chapter 17.58, which covers R-2 Single-Family Residential Zone regulations.
