The Lehi City Fiber Network project reported significant progress in its 36-month timeline as of December 27, 2023. According to a public report, the initiative has reached a network take rate of 19.73%, with the demand aggregation platform recording 8,225 unique addresses registered within city limits as of December 17, 2023.
Construction efforts included the completion of 33,800 feet of boring, 105,900 feet of microtrenching, and 485,520 feet of fiber placement. The report stated that foundation construction for shelter 3 was in progress, and fiber splicing and equipment turn up for shelter 4 was being finalized. Additionally, construction was underway for the backbone ring section between shelters 1 and 3 and several cabinet areas, including 10A, 10B, 4A, 4B, 13A, 13B, 3A, 3B, and 2.
Customer installations were active in several areas. Cabinet Area 18 reported the highest subscription rate at 32% with 158 sign-ups, followed by Cabinet Area 8 at 25%, Cabinet Area 9 at 24%, Cabinet Area 7 at 23%, and Cabinet Area 5 at 18%. In total, 645 customers had signed up out of 2,653 locations with fiber available in those specific areas.
The project timeline included a notice to proceed on May 17, 2022, a demand aggregation launch on July 8, 2022, and a groundbreaking ceremony on September 6, 2022. Substantial completion for the project was anticipated for May 17, 2025.
