Moab Regional Hospital has officially welcomed two new leaders to its management team: Dr. William Gustel as Chief Medical Officer and Margy Swenson, RN, as Director of Nursing.
The hospital stated that the experience and dedication of these individuals will support their mission of providing exceptional healthcare services to the community.
Dr. Gustin joins the hospital with a background in physician informatics, having led health IT initiatives across multiple healthcare systems. His professional experience includes work as a hospitalist, medical school professor, and healthcare consultant, with a focus on improving patient care and managing workflows.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Gustin has experience in electronic health records and population health. He also participated in mission work in Kibuye, Rwanda, where he trained volunteers in HIV screening and health education.
Margy Swenson, RN, takes on the role of Director of Nursing following a long career in local healthcare. Having moved to Moab in 1999, Swenson served as an EMT starting in 2004 and later became the Director of Grand County EMS in 2009.
Swenson has been a nurse at Moab Regional Hospital since 2014, working in departments such as emergency care, infusion services, acute care, and hospice. In her new capacity, she will oversee nursing operations, including staffing and training, to maintain standards of patient care.
CEO Jen Sadoff expressed excitement regarding the new appointments, noting that Dr. Gustin's expertise in Meditech, the hospital's new electronic medical record system, is timely as construction concludes.
Sadoff stated that Swenson's leadership will help ensure the nursing team provides high-quality care and that both leaders will help improve patient outcomes for the community.
