Goblin Valley State Park has implemented Stage 2 Fire Restrictions, prohibiting all open fires of any kind. This ban includes fires in established fire pits, charcoal grills, pellet grills, and any ash-producing fuel.
Properly shielded gas or liquid-fueled portable camp stoves with a shut-off valve remain permitted, provided they are used in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren of flammable vegetation.
A heat advisory is in effect as hot and sunny conditions bring temperatures into the 90s and 100s. Officials noted that heat exhaustion and heat stroke represent daily risks. Recommended precautions include hiking early in the day, wearing light clothing and sun protection, and bringing at least 32 ounces of water per person per hour along with electrolytes or salty snacks.
A wind advisory is also active due to frequent desert winds, which can produce gusts as high as 80 mph. Visitors are advised to plan ahead, dress accordingly, and ensure that tents, trash, and other belongings are tied down.
Regarding park facilities, the campground and showers are open. The dump and fill station is also available year-round for a $15 fee if a camping pass is not held. Primitive camping remains available in established sites that are clear of vegetation and contain fire rings.
While the Valley of the Goblins, hiking trails, and mountain bike trails are open, visitors should not use mountain bike trails during muddy conditions. Nearby canyons may contain standing water, and visitors are urged to check daily weather forecasts for flash flood dangers.
The Visitor Center is operating from 9am to 5pm, though hours may change due to emergencies or staffing. Because the park reaches capacity during weekends in the spring and fall, officials suggest arriving early or in the late afternoon to avoid entry lines.
