Highland City has identified several ongoing and upcoming engineering and infrastructure projects through 2027, according to a notice on the city's official website. These initiatives focus on road preservation, trail improvements, and transportation safety across the city.
A roundabout is scheduled for installation at the intersection of Highland Blvd. and 11800 N with an estimated completion in July 2026. The project aims to improve traffic flow, enhance public safety, and accommodate future growth.
Road preservation work is estimated to conclude in August 2026. This project involves roadway reconstruction and pavement preservation at various locations, including 10250 North, 10480 North, 5600 West, Granite Circle, and 5710 West. Additional improvements include Bonded Matrix Overlay on 6000 West and 9600 North, as well as High Density Mineral Bond treatments on several streets including 11350 North, 5830 West, 11200 North, Elmfield Way, Willowbank Drive, and Featherstone Drive. The work also includes valve and manhole reconstructions and curb and gutter replacement.
Trail preservation and rehabilitation projects are also slated for completion in August 2026. These improvements, which include asphalt patching, crack sealing, and the construction of a new trail segment, will take place at the Highland Glen Trail, Highland Glen Park Pond, Windsor Meadows Trail system, Freedom Elementary Trail, American Fork Canyon Ditch Trail, Avonmore Court Trail, Chamberry Fields Trail, and View Pointe Trail.
Additional infrastructure projects include the Mitchell Hollow Trail, which consists of a 0.75-mile asphalt trail in the Mitchell Hollow dry wash corridor. This project, scheduled for completion in August 2026, includes boardwalk sections, retaining walls, and fencing.
Furthermore, 10400 N road improvements are estimated to be completed in September 2026. The work involves constructing new curb, gutter, and concrete sidewalk, along with associated storm drain infrastructure and surface restoration.
The city's engineering projects are part of a broader effort to extend the life of existing systems and improve safety and accessibility for residents and visitors.
