In a report published September 2, several Utah prep sports teams competed in 1A South baseball and Region 20 volleyball play on Wednesday. The Valley Buffalos and Piute Thunderbirds secured victories in baseball, while the Escalante Moquis won in volleyball.
In 1A South baseball, the Valley Buffalos defeated Bryce Valley 16-5. Bronx Withers hit a home run during the game. Gerado Lopez, Kyson Brinkerhoff, and Krewz Palmer each drove in a run for the Mustangs.
In Junction, the Piute Thunderbirds defeated Wayne 5-1. Frank Henry contributed two runs for the Thunderbirds, and Crew Montague earned the win on the mound after recording six strikeouts in seven innings. EJ Pau’u provided the lone run for the Badgers.
In Region 20 volleyball, the Escalante Moquis defeated Wayne 3-1. Alison Holcomb recorded seven kills for the Moquis, who won the match with scores of 25-19, 26-24, 23-25, and 25-18.
The baseball results included a 16-5 win for the Valley Buffalos and a 5-1 win for the Piute Thunderbirds. In volleyball, the Escalante Moquis defeated the Wayne Badgers.
