The Dutch John Town Council held a regular meeting on July 22, 2026, at the Dutch John Community Center to address several municipal matters. According to meeting minutes published August 5, 2026, the council reviewed expenditures, discussed infrastructure projects, and acknowledged the resignation of town attorney Mike Harrington.
During the meeting, Sunrise Engineering presented a plan for fire station and EMS building projects. Representative Aaron Averett stated the project would be divided into three parts: roof repairs, interior renovations for the fire station, and hiring an architect for the EMS building. The town moved to accept a time-and-materials agreement with Sunrise Engineering, which is capped at $16,500 and is expected to take approximately three months to secure contractors and an architect.
The council also discussed a franchise agreement with Union Wireless from 2010 and noted they will review a new proposal from the company. Additionally, the council addressed a report regarding water pressure issues causing dry grass at the cemetery.
Regarding community events, the council noted the next Freedom Festival is scheduled for July 3, 2027. A community-wide yard sale was planned for the upcoming Saturday, and officials addressed a public concern regarding garbage service at the container house.
