Cedar City and Iron County are offering three grant opportunities for the 2026-2027 year to support local businesses and community enhancement. According to a notice on the Cedar City website, these initiatives are supported by the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity through the Rural County Grant Program and are administered by the Iron County Economic Development Advisory Board.
The available funding includes a Small Business Grant with a total pool of $85,000, allowing for individual requests of up to $30,000. Additionally, a combined $30,000 pool is available for Façade/Tenant Improvement Grants and Sign Grants. Both the Façade/Tenant Improvement and Sign Grants require a 1:1 match from the owner.
The Small Business Grant Program is administered by the Iron County Economic Opportunity Board in partnership with the Cedar City Business & Innovation Center. To qualify, businesses must be located in Iron County and have an established licensed business or business plan. Projects requiring a matching component, such as capital investment or equipment purchases, will be considered. Applications that prioritize job creation, specifically higher-wage full-time positions intended for at least 12 months, will receive priority.
For the downtown area, financial support is available for Façade/Tenant Improvement projects with a maximum grant of $7,500 and a 50/50 match. A Sign Grant is also available for Sign Improvement projects in designated downtown areas, offering up to $2,500 with a 50/50 match. These programs aim to revitalize historic buildings and enhance business visibility.
The Small Business Grant pre-application process was scheduled to run from September 1 to September 20, 2026. If awarded funds, projects must be completed and funds spent by May 28, 2027.
