The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City issued a severe thunderstorm warning for central Weber County, south central Cache County, and eastern Box Elder County in northern Utah. The warning was issued following radar indications of a severe thunderstorm located over Ogden moving northeast at 20 mph.
The storm was reported to have 70 mph wind gusts. According to the National Weather Service, the thunderstorm threatened considerable tree damage and damage likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Impacted locations included Ogden, Roy, North Ogden, South Ogden, Washington Terrace, Riverdale, Marriott-Slaterville, Mantua, Weber State University, West Haven, Pleasant View, Farr West, Harrisville, Huntsville, Nordic Valley, Eden, Wilson, Powder Mountain, Liberty, and Pineview Reservoir.
Travelers on Interstate 15 between mile markers 339 and 350, and Interstate 84 between mile markers 82 and 83, were among those impacted.
For protection, the National Weather Service advised moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
