The Utah State Dairy Veterinary newsletter announced in a report published September 3 that the current dairy extension veterinarian retired on July 31, 2026. The veterinarian joined Utah State University on August 1, 2006, marking a 20-year tenure at the institution.
Dr. Chloe Stenkamp-Strahm is taking over as the new Dairy Extension Veterinarian. Stenkamp-Strahm has served as the USU extension veterinarian for other species for one year and possesses expertise in investigating HPAI in dairy cattle in Utah, California, and Colorado. The transition occurs while the region faces outbreaks of HPAI in dairy cattle, New World screwworm, and vesicular stomatitis virus in equines.
The retiring veterinarian will serve as a professor emeritus and will continue to serve on several committees at the state level and at USU. The author noted that this transition marks the end of the dairy veterinary newsletter publication.
