Southern Utah was scheduled to host a variety of activities for the Fourth of July weekend, ranging from art exhibitions to live entertainment. The upcoming weekend offered opportunities for adventure through a wide selection of community events across several cities.
Art and educational events were scheduled for the holiday weekend. On July 3, the Sears Art Museum in St. George was scheduled to host a free exhibition titled From Red Rocks to Glaciers: Southern Utah and Alaska Through the Lens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Southern Utah Museum of Art in Cedar City was scheduled to host First Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Additionally, the Brian Head Art Fair was scheduled for Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Brian Head. In St. George, the St. George Museum of Art was scheduled to host "Inside: Conditions of Care" and "Between Symbols and Stories" from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Musical and theatrical performances were also part of the weekend schedule. The Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City was scheduled to present several productions, including Hamlet, She Loves Me, Something Rotten!, and Twelfth Night. Other scheduled performances included 1776 at the Cedar Fun Center and Come From Away at The Electric Theater in St. George. On Saturday, the St. George Tabernacle was scheduled to host Happy Birthday, America: Patriotic Music to Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday Anniversary starting at noon.
Community gatherings and food events were scheduled throughout the region. The Cedar City Lions Club Independence Day Parade and Festival was scheduled for Saturday on Main Street Park. Various farmers markets were also scheduled, including the Cedar City Farmers Market and the Hurricane Utah Farmers Market. On Saturday, the Hurricane Valley Lions Club was scheduled to host a 4th of July Pancake Breakfast at the Hurricane Community Center.
