The West Haven City Council held a special meeting on August 5, 2026, to discuss real property strategies, followed by a regular meeting to address zoning and community matters, according to meeting minutes published August 24.
During the special session, the Council entered a closed session to discuss the purchase, exchange, or lease of real property in accordance with Utah Code 52-4-205. Mayor Rob Vanderwood presided over the meeting, which included Councilmembers Ryan Saunders, Carrie Call, Kim Dixon, Nina Morse, and Ryan Swapp.
In a public presentation, residents Joshua Preciado and Arazeliy Martinez requested a community book program involving book lockers to improve literacy rates. Additionally, Councilmember Morse noted that temporary parking signs on 1800 S proved helpful to the community.
The Council voted on two zoning ordinances. They approved Ordinance 16-2026 to include parcels 150710069 and 150710030 in a zoning map amendment from A-1 to C-2. However, the Council denied Ordinance 10-2026 regarding a zoning amendment from M-1 to R-3 for 2410 Hinckley Drive, citing the ongoing review of the general plan and concerns regarding health, safety, and welfare.
The regular meeting concluded with presentations from social media coordinator Michelle Witte and City Manager Shawn Warnke, who presented the quarterly audit report.
