Centennial Middle School issued several weekly announcements for parents and guardians regarding upcoming academic assessments and school activities. The communications detailed schedules for NWEA testing, safety drills, and community meetings.
Beginning-of-Year NWEA testing was scheduled to start on Monday, August 24. Students were set to complete NWEA Math and Science assessments between August 24 and August 28, while NWEA Reading assessments and make-up testing were scheduled for August 31 through September 11.
A school safety drill was scheduled for Monday, August 24, to practice evacuation procedures among students and staff. Additionally, school pictures were scheduled for Tuesday, September 1.
Vision screenings were scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, for all 7th grade students and selected 8th grade students. The school also noted that there would be no school on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.
The school held its first PTA meeting of the school year on Tuesday, August 25, at 10:30 a.m. in the CMS Library. A second PTA meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, at 10:30 a.m.
School Community Council elections were scheduled to take place electronically via Google Forms from Monday, August 31, at 9:00 a.m. through Friday, September 4, at 4:00 p.m. The deadline for parent self-nominations for the council was Wednesday, August 26, at 4:00 p.m.
Parents were reminded to complete the Annual PowerSchool Information Update to ensure accurate contact and emergency information. For absences, the Provo City School District policy requires that parents excuse an absence within one week of the occurrence.
