Rick Haynes has returned to Kanab to serve as the Director of Continuous Improvement at Kane County Hospital, according to a September 9 report. Haynes, a Kanab High School alumnus, recently completed a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Data Science from the University of Phoenix.
At Kane County Hospital, Haynes teaches Lean Six Sigma, a data-driven methodology designed to improve processes by identifying defects, reducing rework, and enhancing quality. The program focuses on creating value with fewer resources by optimizing workflows and eliminating nonvalue-added activities. To become an instructor, individuals must reach the Master Black Belt level, which requires mastering five belts: White, Yellow, Green, Black, and Black Master.
Haynes, who grew up in Kanab, relocated to the area to care for his parents, Neil and Venna, after his mother suffered two strokes. His parents are retired, with Neil from a career in banking and Venna from teaching. Haynes previously lived in northern Illinois for over 15 years and later resided in Colorado before returning to Kane County.
