Davis High School will have a new quarterback under center for its upcoming game against Alta. The program confirmed to the Standard-Examiner that junior Brodie Scheinberg withdrew from the school on Monday.
Scheinberg, a three-star prospect who transferred to Davis from Saint John Bosco near Los Angeles during the offseason, is now enrolled at Newbury Park High School in his home state, according to a report by Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times.
In his three starts at quarterback, Scheinberg completed 64 passes for 570 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions. During a 42-7 loss to Mountain Ridge last week, he completed 19 of 33 attempts for 166 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Davis named senior Paden Toula as the Week 4 starter on Saturday. Toula transferred to Davis from Bonneville last year and recorded 1,442 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions during his junior season.
In other local sports news, Goldenwest Credit Union made a $2,000 donation to the Box Elder School District foundation to support financial literacy programs. Additionally, Bonneville High School is hosting Fremont at Budge Field in Washington Terrace, offering free admission to veterans and active service members.
