Brigham Young University concluded its annual Education Week program on Friday, August 21, 2026, following a week of nearly 1,000 classes and events. The program, which ran from August 17 to August 21, focused on the theme "Charity is the Pure Love of Christ, and It Endureth Forever" from Moroni 7:47.
Diverse Educational Programming
The week-long event, sponsored by BYU Continuing Education, offered a wide variety of instruction for both adults and youth. Topics included marriage and family, communication, health, history, finance, personal development, and various gospel subjects. While much of the programming was spiritual, attendees also had access to law and medical school classes, some of which provided continuing legal education credit.
Featured Speakers and Performances
Special programming highlighted the week, including a devotional by Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which was held on Tuesday, August 18, at 11:10 a.m. in the Marriott Center. Additionally, the Millennial Choirs and Orchestras performed "America 250 in Concert" on Wednesday, August 19, and Thursday, August 20, at the BYU Marriott Center.
Large Scale Attendance
The program serves a massive audience, with annual registration reaching nearly 17,000 people, making it one of the largest adult continuing education programs in the United States. Attendees noted that the event provides both a spiritual boost and a chance to reconnect with friends and family. For example, attendee Mark Smith noted the variety of instruction ranging from medical to gardening, while Ruth Elizabeth Conrad expressed interest in the spiritual aspects of the event.
Housing and Logistics
Logistics for the event included campus housing for participants. Residents staying in Helaman Halls had access to small refrigerators in each room and were located near the Cannon Commons cafeteria. Mandatory checkout for all housing was set for 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, to accommodate a strict university maintenance schedule.
Registration and Costs
Registration for the event was available both online and in-person at locations such as the Marriott Center Northeast Ticket Booth and the Wilkinson Student Center Garden Court. Pricing for the various classes and events ranged from $30 to $115, depending on the number of days an individual chose to attend.
