Real Salt Lake announced on September 2, 2026, that it has acquired 25-year-old midfielder Taylor Booth via loan for the remainder of the 2026 Major League Soccer season. The agreement, which includes an option to purchase, extends through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season and was reached with Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente.
Booth, a Utah native and former member of the RSL Academy, returns to the United States after more than eight years playing in Europe. His professional career includes 125 appearances in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands with Bayern Munich, St. Polten, and FC Twente, following 23 games for the Bayern Munich youth setup between 2018 and 2020.
Real Salt Lake Chief Soccer Officer Kurt Schmid stated that welcoming Booth back to Utah was an easy decision. Schmid noted that Booth has established a remarkable track record through his time in top European leagues and as a USMNT pool player, adding that his tactical flexibility and attacking play provide immediate quality and depth for the club.
The former U.S. Men’s National Team pool player is the older brother of current RSL attacker Zach Booth. Both brothers are Eden, Utah natives who have represented the U.S. Under-17 and Under-19 men’s national teams. Taylor Booth has earned 23 youth national team appearances and two USMNT senior caps during the 2022/23 CONCACAF Nations League.
Booth, who was born on May 31, 2001, at La Roca soccer club, said it felt like the right moment to return to his boyhood club. He expressed excitement about playing for the club he grew up supporting and noted that his brother's positive experience at the club influenced his decision.
Booth may be eligible to appear for Real Salt Lake this Saturday, Sept. 5, at America First Field in Sandy during a match against LAFC. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MT and will mark the club's 16th consecutive sellout.
