Washington Terrace City scheduled a regular City Council meeting for Aug. 4, 2026, which will include a public hearing regarding a proposed property tax increase, according to a July 29 notice.
The city is considering increasing its property tax rate from 0.001590 to 0.001697. This change is intended to generate an additional $98,100 in revenue, bringing total proposed property tax revenue to $1,556,877.
The proposed tax increase is estimated to affect the police department budget by $98,100 to fund contractual increases for law enforcement services with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.
Under the proposal, a primary residence valued at $430,699 would see an estimated annual increase of $25.33, while a business valued at $430,699 would see an estimated annual increase of $46.05. The estimated increase to the city's property tax rate is 6.7%.
The public hearing regarding the tax increase and the reasons for the proposal will allow citizens to participate in person or virtually. Instructions for virtual participation are expected to be available on the city website no later than 24 hours before the scheduled hearing.
The meeting is set to take place at 5249 South 400 East, Washington Terrace, UT 84405, starting with a roll call at 6:00 P.M.
