Washington Terrace City is proposing an increase to its property tax revenue, according to a report published July 30.
If the proposed budget is approved, the city would receive an additional $98,100 in property tax revenue per year. This would represent a 6.73% increase in budgeted property tax revenue above last year's revenue, excluding eligible new growth.
Under the proposal, the tax on a $431,000 residence would increase from $376.91 to $402.27, an increase of $25.36 per year.
For a $431,000 business, the tax would increase from $685.29 to $731.41, representing an annual increase of $46.12.
The city invited citizens to a public hearing to hear comments and learn the reasons for the proposed increase. The hearing was scheduled for Aug. 4, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 5249 South 400 East, Washington Terrace.
Participation was offered both in person and virtually. Instructions for virtual participation were to be made available at www.washingtonterrace.gov no later than 24 hours before the hearing's scheduled start.
