The group explained that they support local governments by providing weekly grant updates, custom funding guides, and strategic plans to match projects with available programs. The firm stated it has been in business for 44 years and specializes in securing grant funding from agencies such as the EPA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Bureau of Reclamation.
Council Member Steve Secrest noted that The Ferguson Group works with Congress and funding agencies to match grants to the specific needs of the City of Ballard and the Ballard Water & Sewer Improvement District. Secrest indicated that potential funding for water projects may become available as early as 2028. He added that advocates believe Ballard is a strong candidate for federal support due to planned growth, oil field activity, and an incoming railroad.
The next step for the Water Board and City Council involves requesting detailed cost information from grant advocates. The Ferguson Group will email additional information and presentation materials to the Ballard City Secretary for review by Board Members and the City Council.
