The town of Marysvale was placed in ready status as power was shut off in Piute County following the Cottonwood Fire.
Rocky Mountain Power de-energized power lines because of the active wildfire in the area. Officials stated there was no timeframe for when electricity would be restored and advised that residents should prepare for a prolonged outage.
The Piute County Sheriff's Office used its Facebook page to instruct residents to stay alert by monitoring news and cellular alerts.
The Sheriff's Office requested that community members pack emergency kits and prepare their households, vehicles, and pets. Residents were also advised to leave early if they required extra time.
